Hello.
My name is Chad. I am a designer and programmer in Richmond, VA.
I make good websites. I have been working with Christian non-profits and businesses in the digital space for over 20 years, using best practices even before they were buzzwords:
- User-Centered
- Meaningful and relevant experiences that are delightful to use (UX)
- Accessible
- Semantic, WCAG compliant HTML structures for people of all abilities
- Responsive
- Content that reflows on any device, from mobile first to desktop
- Resilient
- Coding that is compatible and defensive, handling unknowns and edge cases
- Optimized
- Tested and refined to maximize bandwidth and ensure clearer communication
I understand both the strengths and limitations of the Internet, and how to make it work for us. I solve needs sensibly for both clients and their customers, and the sites I build are simple to maintain and extend.

I studied design at University of Buffalo, theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and linguistics at Dallas International University. I have a UX certification from Nielsen Norman Group.
I was ordained to Christian ministry in 2009 and worked for a decade among the poor and remote in the Himalayas. I loved that place and expressed a bit of that in the mountain backdrop on this site. Web work came with me — like Paul the missionary’s tent-making — traveling easily and often paying the way. I learned the benefits of lightweight websites on slow, spotty networks. I saw how web technology extends our reach in ministry. I grew in cross-cultural understanding as I worked alongside leaders in churches, schools, and offices.
Many generous people have helped me on my way, professionally and personally. It has become a special joy to help others along. Freely received, freely given.
My greatest work is personal. I love my wife and five children. I have come to love Jesus Christ and all that is his: the Church, the Bible, the nations. I would love to chat about any of these things.

I built this small site line by line because I enjoy my craft and put in heart. I remember where I came from, when the web was young and fun. (Go on, right click and view page source.)
